keep your art looking fresh
here are the best ways to care for your new tattoo
using second skin
With second skin derm-shield: leave on skin for 3-5 days. It’s normal to see blood and ink form under the patch. Just leave it alone and let the second skin do what it needs to do. Without the second skin derm-shield: for the first 3 hours after being tattooed, please let it breathe and leave it alone. – Once you’re ready to remove the second skin derm-shield or enough time as gone by, wash your hands, gently wash your tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap, pat the area dry with a fresh paper towel or clean cloth, then apply a thin layer of lotion over it; never re-wrap your tattoo.
**DO NOT soak or submerge your tattoo for 3 weeks, this includes in the pool and shower and never wrap it before a shower!
for the days following
You should continue to gently clean your tattoo in the morning and evening for the duration of the healing process (2-3 weeks) with unscented antibacterial soap. For the first 2-3 days; keep using a thin layer of lotion after washing and reapply during the day as needed. You do not need to wash your tattoo every time before applying lotion, just make sure your hands are washed before touching your tattoo. Be sure not to over moisturize the healing tattoo; this can lead to itchiness, infection, and ink fallout.
Don’t pick at it, don’t scratch it, and keep it clean! Your tattoo will most likely be extremely itchy as it dries and heals, this is very normal. Don’t mess with it! At about 2-3 weeks, you should start to see some major healing. Be patient with the process; your tattoo will not be completely healed for a month to a month and a half. Do not use a balm on healing tattoos. Wait at least one month.
